Municipal area

One of coastal Andhra's oldest weaving towns

Chirala sits on the Bay of Bengal coast in Bapatla district, about 17 km from Bapatla town and 83 km from Guntur. It's known nationally for two things: a handloom and saree-weaving tradition that stretches back generations, and the Chirala-Perala Sathyagraha of 1919–21 — one of coastal Andhra's most remarkable acts of collective civil disobedience. This site brings together verified history, culture, travel, and civic information in one place, in English and Telugu.
